I am volunteering in the position of Medical Coordinator with the British charity Welbodi Partnership based at the Ola During Children’s Hospital in Freetown, Sierra Leone. Welbodi is the Krio word for Health.
The Welbodi Partnership was established to support the Children's Hospital in the provision of pediatric care in Sierra Leone, where child health statistics are among the worst in the world. 1 in 5 children do not reach the age of 5, most children dying of preventable and treatable diseases. The Welbodi Partnership aims to give these children a better chance by working closely with the hospital staff and Ministry of Health to create a center of excellence in pediatric care.
