Easter greetings...
It is great to be able to focus again on the amazing gift that God has given us- eternal life with Him through Jesus Christ. As I re-read the story of His death and resurrection I am reminded again of God’s great love for us. That He would sacrifice His only Son, that Jesus out of obedience would die the most horrid death, and that according to the promises in the Old Testament He was raised from the dead. It really is the story that brings us life!
I am doing well. This past week has been interesting at the clinic- with various tropical diseases…including: malaria (of course!), anemia (lowest Hb for past week was 2.8 g/dL!), hookworm, schistosomiasis mansoni, ascaris (yet another worm), tuberculosis (great X-ray!), sickle cell anemia. And I have seen some unusual things, like: bladder exstrophy (bladder outside of the abdomen), three cleft lips in one day. And then there have of course been the usual things, such as: coughs, chest infections, gastroenteritis, urinary tract infections, scabies etc. Never a dull moment really.
I must say though, it will be nice to have a few days off. Joshua David will spend Easter with us. He is the little Sierra Leonean boy that was found under a tree when the ship was here a few years ago. He is now living with a local family, and we see him once in awhile. It’s fun to have him over for the holidays- and it’s a real treat for him. We will be having an Easter service on Sunday at our house with about 30 other expats- so that should be great!
All the best! Happy Easter!
